|Right to Marry - Arizona
||[Jul. 15th, 2008|10:58 am]
The Right to Marry campaign is an ongoing youth-led initiative to achieve marriage equality in the United States. In the past two years, most of our effort focused on New York State. This summer we are excited to expand our mission to Arizona, the first state to defeat a constitutional anti-marriage amendment. It returns on the ballot this November as Senator John McCain makes his run for the office of the President. It’s a great time to engage with Arizonans on issues of fairness for all Americans!|
The Journey Team will walk 96 symbolic miles throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area – 96 is the number of years Arizona has been a state without equal protection for its LGBT citizens. They will stop at city halls to share their stories.
The Dialogue Team will bring the conversation of civics, faith, and equality to three important local communities: senior active adult complexes, Latter Day Saints congregations and state legislator offices.
We are looking for participants of all ages, faiths (and non-faith), sexual orientations, gender identities, ethnicities, abilities, educational and class backgrounds.
